In spite of The Society presenting a comprehensive offer that meets all the needs of Bruce Power for refurbishment, management refuses to sign-off on a new collective agreement. During bargaining sessions assisted by a provincially appointed conciliator, the Bruce Power Local tabled an offer that included letters of understanding regarding contracting out for all of the refurbishment and life cycle asset management work to be performed on the Bruce units as well. With management rejecting that offer, conciliation finished without the parties reaching a new collective agreement. The sticking point continues to be the degree to which management wants to contract out work that should be done by Society members.

Before deciding on next steps, the Bruce Local, led by LVP Mike Gade, will meet this week with The Society’s board of directors.
